‘Dartmouth Hosts Fifth Annual Digital Health Summit’ (Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine News – October 26, 2026 – Full article)
Article Excerpt: At a transformative time in medicine, as wearables and interactive smartphone apps rapidly expand access to assessment and treatment beyond clinical settings, Geisel School of Medicine’s Center for Technology and Behavioral Health (CTBH) hosted its fifth annual Digital Health Summit at Dartmouth on Oct. 21.
Clinicians, policy makers, software developers, researchers, and regulatory experts shared strategies for developing, funding, and building trust in data-collecting devices and platforms capable of dramatically improving health outcomes. Panels explored both the promise of AI and the need to set guardrails on its use.
A major focus was on new technologies relating to mental health and substance abuse.
“We have wonderful, caring clinicians dedicated to treating patients with mental health and substance use disorders, but we don’t nearly enough of them in clinical practice,” Geisel Dean Jennifer Hunt told about 150 attendees at the Hanover Inn. “Technology can be a great bridge to fill the gap in access that so many of our vulnerable patients experience.”
Several of those tools are being pioneered at Dartmouth, said CTBH Director Lisa Marsch, the Andrew G. Wallace Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Biomedical Data Science.
