Timothy Bickmore, PhD

About the Presentation: Dr. Bickmore’s research focuses on development and study of Relational Agents, computer agents designed to build and maintain long-term, social-emotional relationships with people. Dr. Bickmore has partnered with colleagues in many domains of application including projects targeting overweight adults, individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, patient empowerment, preventive care, contraceptive counseling and, most relevant to the Dartmouth PRC/CTBH, individuals with depression and schizophrenia. His talk will focus on the use of virtual agents in mental health applications.
About the Presenter: Dr. Bickmore is Associate Professor in the College of Computer and Information Science at Northeastern University. Prior to joining the faculty at Northeastern, Dr. Bickmore was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. from the MIT Media Lab.
