Program Overview
So-Lo-Mo is a smoking cessation intervention that delivers personalized messages through a mobile application. The app securely connects to patients’ electronic health records to automatically generate individualized user profiles. These profiles are integrated into an artificial intelligence system that learns from user interactions to identify specific interests and behavioral patterns. Leveraging this information, the AI system personalizes message content, optimizes delivery timing based on user engagement patterns and behavioral change models, and supports efforts to promote smoking cessation. Messages fall into five categories: (1) general motivation, (2) healthy diet recommendations, (3) active lifestyle suggestions, (4) positive reinforcement for activity goals, and (5) benefits of being smoke-free. To maintain message variety throughout a year of use, 150 unique messages have been developed for each category.
