Program Overview
QuitGenius is a smoking cessation smartphone application that guides users through a year-long program. The program was designed with CBT and game mechanics principals in mind, and is intended to aid users across their quit jouney, starting before they begin their quit attempt. The app provides tailored support in preparing to quit, as well as maintaining smoking cessation after the quit date. Learning modules comprised of animated videos, audio, reflexive exercises, and quizzes, must be completed sequentially, where completing the available module unlocks the next module. While each module (step) is intended to be completed at the users’ pace, the app regularly prompts users to complete tasks. The ‘Essential’ stage content is completed before the user’s quit date and includes reminders for why users are quitting, nicotine replacement information, and general background information. Once in the ‘Sustain’ stage, modules focus on cravings, daily usage, triggers, relapse prevention, mental health, and general well-being.
