Program Overview
Decide2Quit (www.Decide2Quit.org) is a web-assisted tobacco intervention guided by Social Cognitive Theory and the Transtheoretical Model. The website covers topics related to smoking cessation such as how to make a quit plan, health benefits of quitting, and links to other smoking-cessation resources. Additionally, it allows asynchronous chats with a Tobacco Treatment counselor for personalized guidance. At registration, participants indicate their readiness to quit and choose their health area of interest among five topics (cancer, wound healing, cardiovascular, respiratory, or general health), which allows semi-tailoring of automated e-mails to each participant. E-mails encourage quitting and use of the website with messages from either peers or experts.
