Program Overview
CRAFFT-IS is a computer-facilitated screening and brief intervention (CSBI). The program includes a self-administered screening questionnaire based on the CRAFFT (car, relax, alone, forget, family or friends, trouble) screening tool, immediate personalized feedback and psychoeducation, and point-of-care decision support for practitioners. The self-administered screening questionnaire is designed to be administered in a private space before a visit. The screening tool includes the 6 CRAFFT questions and assesses the number of days of alcohol, cannabis, and other drugs were used in the past 12 months. Following screening, patients are shown their CRAFFT score and receive 10 pages of interactive content. The interactive content utilizes vignettes to illustrate the risks associated with substance use. Before the visit, providers can view the patients’ screening results, risk levels, recommended motivational interviewing strategies, and a follow-up plan.
