Dr. Gabrielli is an Assistant Professor in Clinical and Healthy Psychology at the University of Florida. She is a clinical child psychologist who studies the developmental progression of health risk behavior in youth and the associated risk and protective factors that have meaningful impact in the developmental trajectory. She previously worked at the CTBH as a postdoctoral research fellow through the Science of Co-occurring Disorders T32 fellowship. In this role, she examined relations among media exposures, media parenting behaviors, and the development of substance use behaviors in adolescents. She also worked collaboratively with researchers in the Cancer Risk Behaviors group in testing aspects of a developmental model of marketing receptivity, identity formation, brand allegiance, and subsequent problematic substance use. Through this continued work, Dr. Gabrielli hopes to develop a web-based and scalable media parenting intervention for prevention of youth substance use.

Dr. Gabrielli also has a growing interest in the intersection of prevention and intervention efforts to address the development of youth health risk behaviors and ways these efforts can be enhanced and extended using novel and accessible technologies. During her graduate training, she developed models to test the associations between maltreatment history, coping behaviors, and substance use in youth in foster care. She intends to continue this line of study to improve outcomes for high-risk youth by employing technology-based approaches to assessment, treatment, and coordination of care. In her leisure time, Dr. Gabrielli enjoys participating in a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and camping with her daughter and their two dogs. She is also an avid fan of volleyball at every level of competition, and she participates as player, coach, and spectator as her time allows.
