Freya Ma, MS
PhD Student, Program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS), Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies
Freya Ma is a PhD student in the Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS) program at Dartmouth College, focusing on machine learning and large language model approaches for behavioral health applications. Her research interests center on leveraging multimodal data from wearables to identify digital biomarkers that could predict and monitor both mental health conditions (e.g., stress and depression) and cancer-related behavioral changes. She is particularly interested in creating AI-driven interventions that can detect subtle behavioral patterns in real-time and deliver personalized support through context-aware systems. Prior to beginning her PhD, Freya worked as a Decision Analytics Associate at ZS Associates, where she partnered with global healthcare leaders on pharmaceutical consulting projects, and previously served as a technology consultant at Accenture developing innovative healthcare solutions. She completed her computer science and data science studies at Northwestern University and the University of British Columbia, and holds a Master’s degree from Dartmouth’s QBS program.
In her free time, Freya continues her passion for epee fencing as a former varsity athlete, and embraces New England’s diverse landscape through cross-country skiing and horseback riding. She also loves street photography and exploring various artistic pursuits from painting to music.
