Dr. Daniel M. Mackin is a postdoctoral fellow in Biomedical Data Science working with Dr. Nicholas C. Jacobson in his AI and Mental Health: Innovation in Technology Guided Healthcare (AIM HIGH) Lab in Dartmouth College’s Center for Technology and Behavioral Health. He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Stony Brook University and completed his clinical fellowship at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Mackin is interested in integrating multiple levels of analysis to study the development and course of internalizing psychopathology. He is also interested in improving assessment and classification of these disorders. Dr. Mackin’s program of research has examined how reward processing, reinforcement learning, life stress, and personality influence depressive and anxiety disorders longitudinally. He has also developed measures assessing subtypes of Major Depressive Disorder. During his fellowship, Dan is working to apply machine learning techniques to passive sensor data from smartphone and wearable devices to better assess and predict real-time fluctuations in depressive symptoms. He is also interested in developing and implementing personalized just-in-time adaptive interventions (JITAIs).

In his free time, Dr. Mackin enjoys golfing, kayaking, hiking, reading and spending time with his family and dog.
