Bruce is a software engineer and researcher in the Center for Technology and Behavioral Health at Dartmouth College. His research focuses on digital mental health interventions and AI-driven therapeutic applications, with an emphasis on natural language processing, personalized support systems, and responsible technology implementation. His work centers on expanding access to effective mental health care through innovative digital platforms that combine advanced language models with real-time behavioral data. From 2021-2024, he worked at McLean Hospital, where he led the technical development of a project using electronic health records to examine the relationship between psychotic symptomatology and childhood trauma. Most recently, he worked as a software engineer in the Gabrieli Lab at MIT’s McGovern Institute for Brain Research, developing AI-based tutoring systems that integrate real-time feedback with validated instructional methods to create personalized learning experiences for children. He is committed to developing ethical AI solutions that provide scalable, evidence-based mental health support.
Bruce earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with highest honors from Middlebury College. A native of the Upper Valley, in his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, stone carving, going on canoe trips, skiing, and is learning Dutch.
