Enzo is a 3rd year PhD Candidate and Predoctoral Fellow in the NIDA T32 Science of Co-occurring Disorders Training Program at the Dartmouth Center for Technology and Behavioral Health (CTBH). As a licensed paramedic, he understands the toll of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) profession on his own stress and mental health, but also recognizes how extremely rewarding it is to play a part in people’s individual life-changing moments. However, on a daily basis, Enzo sees the stress of this job contribute to debilitating substance use problems in his coworkers, impacting their lives, families, and healthcare careers. His lived-experiences inspired this F31 grant award and his long-term goals of obtaining a faculty position as an NIH-funded investigator to design data-informed just-in-time interventions to improve stress coping skills and reduce substance use in this particularly high risk population of EMS clinicians.
Congratulations, Enzo!
