“Suicide Transmission Dynamics on Social Media: Modeling Risk, Understanding Platform Differences, and Exploring Ethical Implications Among Young Adults,” has been awarded by the NIMH! This five-year project will investigate how suicidal thoughts and behaviors are transmitted among young adults on Twitter/X and Reddit by integrating computational social science, natural language processing, dynamic social network analysis, and ecological momentary assessment.
“I’m incredibly excited about the potential for this work to advance our understanding and inform the development of data-driven, ethically grounded interventions” said the project’s principal investigator, Nick Jacobson.
