The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College is accepting applications for 1-2 Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join a dynamic interdisciplinary research group, the Center for Technology and Behavioral Health (CTBH), a NIH-NIDA funded Center of Excellence focused on promoting state-of-the-science and state-of-the-technologies related to digital health approaches for substance use, behavioral health, and related conditions.
Scholars will have access to the broad interdisciplinary faculty, training opportunities, and resources of CTBH, including workshops, seminars, grant writing consultation, and pilot funding opportunities for digital health research (www.c4tbh.org). We are committed to promoting equity and inclusion in our research and central to this mission is a commitment to fostering research training for historically underserved trainees.
The Research Fellows will join a team of clinicians and researchers focused on a program of research being led by CTBH faculty. Fellows will be mentored by a member of the CTBH faculty located at Dartmouth. Areas of focus include but are not limited to: substance use and serious mental illness (Mary Brunette, MD); cannabis intervention and policy research using social media research and population science methodologies (Alan Budney, PhD and Jake Borodovsky, PhD); digital assessment, therapeutics and data analytics for mental health and substance use (Nick Jacobson, PhD); identifying optimal models of substance use treatment and health care for pregnant and parenting women with opioid use disorder and their children (Sarah Lord, PhD); digital assessment/therapeutics, opioid use disorder treatment innovations, behavior change mechanisms (Lisa Marsch, PhD); and digital health behavior change interventions for adolescents and young adults (Catherine Stanger, PhD). The Research Fellows will also become immersed in our innovative T32 training program focused on the Science of Co-Occurring Disorders (geiselmed.dartmouth.edu/scd/) and funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The program offers predoctoral and postdoctoral training in transdisciplinary and translational research on co-occurring substance use and other health conditions. Multidisciplinary faculty offer training in developmental, social, behavioral, neurobiological, and transdiagnostice mechanisms of substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders. Faculty include preeminent national/international leaders and PhD and MD investigators with strong histories of training scientists and obtaining funding (NIDA, NIAAA, NIMH, NCI, NCATS, NICHD, PCORI). Mentors have excellent track records for helping Research Fellows obtain independent funding and academic or health science industry positions. All Research Fellows can participate in T32 training and activities regardless of how their Postdoctoral Fellowship is funded.
Appointment: 2-3 years. Eligibility: Applicants must have completed their doctoral training by the time the position begins. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Trainees are selected on the basis of training, experience, and interest in research relevant to CTBH faculty interests, and should have a strong commitment to developing a career path that includes research in substance use or behavioral health.
