Ellie joins the study as a Research Nurse after 40 years in Nursing with 15 years in clinical obstetrics and newborn care in several Maine hospitals and she holds a specialty certification in Inpatient Obstetrics. She served as the Director of Genetics at the Maine CDC (Bureau of Health) for 25 years (no nights, no weekends, and no holidays), where she established several initiatives including assuring access to genetic care and expanded screening of infants for metabolic and other treatable genetic disorders, newborn hearing loss, birth defects, and critical congenital heart defects. She’s been drawn out of retirement to work on the MORE study with a focus on moms in Maine.

Ellie lives in Maine with her husband, David. She enjoys spending time with family, including 3 daughters, 2 sons in law, a boyfriend in law, and her 4 (6) grandchildren, 2 of whom resulted from her daughter donating eggs so her best friend could have a family. They all bring great joy into her life. Ellie enjoys reading, knitting and quilting.
